DER Repairs
REPAIR SERVICES
Repairs performed on vanes.
Basic Repair = The basic repair
consists of minor crack repairs on the airfoils and platforms plus seal
slot restoration. Airflow correction, dimensional restoration and recoating
of the gas path.
Extended Repair = When it is applicable
extended repairs are performed. The trailing edges and the forward front
flanges are removed and replaced. Airflow correction, dimensional
restoration and complete recoating of the gas path complete this workscope.
AFR = Our Airfoil Replacement Repair
is reserved for vanes exhibiting excessive airfoil body burning, cracking
and/or foreign object damage.
The airfoils are removed and replaced with
newly cast airfoils from Chromalloy's own investment casting facility,
plus we completely overhaul the existing platforms. AFR is Chromalloy
Nevada's most innovative repair.
The Chromalloy Nevada AFR program is DER approved and our customers
realize a 50% saving on every AFR repaired vane.
At half the cost of a new vane our AFR
vanes are a great alternative to the high cost of new vanes. With Chromalloy
Nevada's extensive repair work scopes we can assure our customers of
a 100% repair yield on non-rotating components.
Repairs performed on blades.
Automated cleaning to remove contamination.
X-Rays are taken to check for internal
flaws.
Welding = We have extensive experience
welding equiax, directionally solidified and single crystal superalloys.
We regularly repair blades cast from Rene 80, Rene 142, and CMSX 4.
Our success in welding all of these materials is unmatched throughout
the industry. Pre Heat Fusion welding, Chromalloy's patented process,
is used to repair minor cracks at the blade tips. Interactive
image digitized laser welding is performed to restore the blade tip
contour.
Coatings = An important part of
the repair process is the restoration of protective coatings. Chromalloy
offers Vapor Phase Aluminizing, Platinum Aluminide and for the ultimate
protection Ceramic Barrier Coating (Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition).
Airflow = Every blade we repair
is tested on Chromalloy's custom built airflow bench and all the information
is recorded to insure every blade meets our stringent criteria.
Throughout the entire process Non Destructive
Testing is performed by highly trained technicians.
